How's your freestyle recovery? Does it compare to this one?

It seemes way to wide for me. My fore arm is much closer 'hanging loose' to my upper body. A good drill to fight this one is zipper or arm pit... There may be other stuff but I let you find out

Not everyone wants to "fight this". Zipper also has the tendency of jamming you up in the armpit... people sometimes want to fight that. :)

As I convert from TI to faster swimming, my recovery has gotten much wider, a lot like the picture. Wider recovery encourages less body roll, higher stroke rate, and more effective catch with the opposite forearm.

A wider recovery with the palm of your hand facing in towards your body allows for a relaxing, non-jammed up stroke, (much easier on the shoulders as well) plus it forces you to control the balance of your stroke with your body and not your lead arm. This also allows for faster turnover.
