With some of the recent talk on the site about flip turn trouble, here are a few pics of a good turn.  What is the most important point about these images?

I'd say the streamlined position of the swimmer.

Laying on her back at the turn out, previously the impulse.

yeah deffo good streamline

The swimmer is pushing off the wall in a good "Setup" or "Power Triangle" position. In other words, pushing off on the back, with a tight streamline, and twisting to the stomach.

I would say streamline with head hiden in the arms and twisting gently/slowly to the stomach all along the push off

Most people having trouble with flipturns tend to want to incorporate the turn over onto the stomach into the flip simultaneously. Thus, they end up doing a sideways-y thingy. Here, the swimmer keeps a great streamline throughout, which is great, but I think the most important aspect of this turn, from the perspective of trying to cure flipturn trouble, is that it is clear that the turn onto the stomach does not begin until after the legs are fully extended from the push-off from the flip.

She's making only a tiny splash so she must have caused very little turbulence to swim back into off the wall.
