Swim Question of the Week - November 4, 2009

Posted by Glenn Mills on Nov 04, 2009 12:13PM (1,919 views)

This question has either a positive or negative twist to it, depending on your mood.  Try to keep it positive.  :)

If you didn't swim, what would you fill your time with?

Hmm. In the immediate, like today when I didn't swim, I would catch a little extra sleep, hit the Vasa machine and the weight room and then, if I had time left over, maybe vacuum the living room. In the long term -- and that's painful to think about -- I'd probably be running or biking or water running or find something else that's a non-impact cardio workout.

I tried that (to quit swimming) some weeks ago. Believe me it is boring! Keep on swimming!

I have to admit, I'm itching for something a bit more speed related. I've gotta get back onto some kind of road racing track. Something about imposing danger that I really enjoy that I just can't get from jumping in the cold water.

Wow, this is a tricky question. Probably I would try some ohter sports like running or so. Moreover, I probably would try to get all the time out, why my life feels so strangely empty. Where it is sometimes quite painful, to skip a practice for professional or health reasons, I guess it is better for me and my people, when I stay at pool and practice at least 3 times per week.

Glenn, what happened to your bike? :D
I want to go for advanced classes for motor bikes and rally driving, but this takes like 1 to 3 days. Then what?

I think I would get into paddle sports... kayaks, stand up paddle boarding, maybe join up with the hawaiian outrigger canoe club in town

I would be working in a kitchen, owning my own diner would be awesome. Love working with food and the rush of being in a busy kitchen. The work is hard but you see the fruits of your labor and occasionally you get to eat your work!

I'd be a fat, lazy slob who sat on the couch all day. My whole life revolves around swimming - work, school, recreation, sport.
